Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forums and I am a novice at fishing. Recently my father and I went fishing at Lake Simcoe and we found two interesting fish.

This first one:

I have several questions:
1. Could any of you please help me identify the fish?
2. For the first fish, what is the growth on its underside?
3. For the second fish, what is that tumor looking thing?
3. For the second fish, what are the red marks on the bottom?
3. It it ok to eat the second fish?

Thanks in advance.

1. first fish is rockbass, second is sucker.
2.
3. probably the fish was injured when it was small
4. bruising from spawning
5. it's a fish, you can eat it. different people have different taste and ways to prepare it.

I Bet That Sucker Taste Good With Grape Jelly On Its Head.........

Also Is That The New Goby/Bass Hybrid I Keep Hearing About?

i dont know what this looks like, but there is a fish disease called viral hemorragic septicemia (VHS) that is spreading in fish populations in ontario. The fish are safe to eat if they have this virus because it does not affect humans. Look it up if u want to know more.
