Since I am not a expert on fishing equipment or fish~ :) I can't say.

Let's start with how much money you got to spend?

Will you buy a $500 reel if it is best bang for buck? I don't think so, right?

Just looking in the BPS Early Spring Angler catalog 2008:
Team Daiwa-Tierra-Low profile bait reel ($119.99) bearing 6+1
Team Daiwa-TD pro baitcast reel ($119.99) Bearing 11+1
Shimano-Citica-baitcast reel ($119.99 to $249.99) 5+1

The Catalog is a great book for less than 5 bucks at your local convenence store! Or free at BPS! lol There is alot of good deals at BPS!
Good luck and let us know what you decide?

I own a Quantum Energy spinning and a Team Daiwa bait-caster with the twitchin bar (its the blue one $199. at BPS). I have not got the hang of the bait-caster as of yet but I love my QE spinning reel.

I learned how to throw a baitcaster with a Shimano Crestfire. Nice reel, cama along with a 6'6 medium Sojourn rod. The wife now is just starting to pick it up, great combo, hasn't let me down yet.

You should honestly check out the shimano cardiff!

great reel, pretty smooth for the price and they are bulletproof! they're also easy to work on three screws on the side and its open. plus you can't go wrong with a shimano. I love mine i have it on my crankin' rod. 6'6" shimano crucial , med action fast tip. and the cardiff 100
