I'm a power fisherman and find it hard to slow down and try anything else. Anybody else have the same techniques or care to share some. Any tips for what to fish when you find a spot?

i like to throw spinners for bass. this year i;m gonna get into flippin and pitchin too, and try some more finesse techniques as well. learned a lot over the winter so i wanna make use of it. but basically, i'll go top water early morning and into the evening to get those agressive fish. then i use a spinner to locate fish and trigger strikes. now, with what i;ve learned over the winter, i'll them go to flippin and pitchin around heavy cover to get the fish hiding in think weeds and under docks, trees etc. that are hard to get with a spinner, then i'll go back over most of the same areas with a senko, tube or shaky head worm to get the picky bass to come out and play.

I'm not clear on what you are asking; is it tips on power techniques, or finesse techniques?

power fisherman would be someone who uses baits that cover water and are fished more quickly. like spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. make long casts and covers lots of water. Kevan Van Dam is a power fisherman

I'm deff more of a lure/casting fisherman than a bait man.

But regardless each place requires something a little different, best to try everything till you find what working that day.

Thanks UglyFish for the clarification. That's what I thought he meant.

I like to work areas thoroughly when I know that the fish are there. For example, I love to fish around docks and other holding structure with baits like senkos for LM bass.

I believe the key is to be what the fish dictate you need to be. When the conditions are good, you can be aggressive and power fish (crankbait and spinners fish with a high ratio reel, covering water quickly), and at other times when the conditions are not at their best, to slow down and finesse and provoke the fish into biting ( eg - worms fished slowly or even deadsticking - just letting it sit on the bottom for a few minutes ). Each has it's time to used and to be a good fisherman, knowing how and when, and being comfortable with each technique.

Ya thats tha part i have trouble with is slowing down. Once i put the trolling motor down and start cover water i find it hard to stop or don't know when to stop. If i catch one i'll stop and try a few more casts but usually don't catch anything else. It's onlt happened to me a few times where i've stopped and caught a bunch of fish form the same spot.

How long do you stay at a spot where you've caught one fish before moving on?

Jeeze.. When you said power fishing, I thought you were launching lures with a potato gun or something.

well, first thing, turn ur trolling motor way down, like, to a crawl. around 30% or so. u'll feel like ur goin slow, but u'll be amazed at how much water u'll cover still, then, do as u normally do, once u;ve gone through an area, say a shore line with scattered cover, sunken longs, overhanging trees etc, go back around and toss a follow up bait back in to those spots, like a senko or flippin jig. u can get tighter to the cover with that, and fish it more slowly to get the other fish hiding in there.

Next time you are not having any success, try a plastic worm and cast it out and dead stick it, which means -let it sit for 2 minutes on the bottom, and then give it a small twitch, and let it sit for another 2 minutes. Be sure to watch your line.
