Has anyone been to Grenadier pond lately?? Is there anything worth fishing there for, or is it just for kids, small panfish and such?? I wanna go, it`s 1 streetcar ride for me...but was curious if anyone has been? I havent fished there since I was 7 or 8, with my dad.I am now 38 sooo thats been awhile.

odd pike and bass... they are the predators of that pond.
too many people fish and take these fish, which have caused the park to put up signs stating to NOT take pike and bass.

There is also Tilapia in Grenadier Pond, some aisians randomly realesed some into that water. It is definetly not native to that pond. Also, the panfish have been spoiled by people using shrimp as bait. Worms and bread work only a little bit you can catch a few panfish, with shrimp you can catch dozens.

I thought Tilapia was a tropical species hence it would not be able to survive our Canadian winters

I heard the same story - about talapia (tilapia) being released in Grenadier pond by some people. In addition to what other posters mentioned -there is also yellow perch in this pond as well as brown bullhead, few crappies, some white perch,

Since you go there every week, do you think it's overfished?

I do think it's over fished. http://www.grenadierpond.com, I'll be updating the site real soon. This year, they restocked the pond with bass and pike. I've seen more crappie present in the past 2 years.
