Hey schnip. The place I told you about for Specks. Well it meets another stream about half a mile down that is full of Hammer-Handles who just love flies. Catch 1-2 lb pike on the fly all day long. It's a blast on light gear.i think they are a pike with more dominant alligator genes...alf we nned to head out buddy i wanna kill a pike on the fly

....anywhere in the US those bodies of water would be open to the public... canoes and kayaks. The lame excuse that they don't want the contaminated sediments disturbed is baloney.... and any insurance/liability excuse is baloney as well
plenty of fish in there.... just ask the morons who target bass in there in April and May!

Oh they're the best lol, I completely ignore that spot in may, MNR was there quite a bit this year to. Told me it hasn't been to bad this year with the poachers.. They closed it off to boats because a bunch of yahoo's kept vandelizing the "tube" by DQ area (spray painting etc..)
And yea the whole contaminated bottom is bull, If you go down DQ where that little "pier" is they have tubes that come out of gibson and than shoot down to the lower body of water thats off limits... So basically st catharines is getting there drinking water right from gibson lol

ive been fishing here for 20 years as i live in thorold and down the street from gibson. lake gibson used to be alot better recently alot of construction around here has caused them to lower the water by 5 feet and is very difficult to fish . and the water is very polluted from the old factorys which is why they dont want any boats in there stirring up the bottom off the lake. as far as fish huge carp, alot of bass, big pike muskie ,the odd sucker and channel cat. depending on what your fishing for i can direct you guys to good spots. any questions just ask

Just moved to Thorold from the east coast, just wondering if theres any good options around for fly fishing spots that can be access via mix of bike and transit since I don't have a vehicle atm.
