No one has offered any suggestions in the last 5 hours.
Either they are out fishing or they don't have any suggestions...
Why don't you jump in the car and bring Dad up to the Kawarthas where you can rent a boat or hire a guide and catch some real fish? Yes it will cost a few dollars, but isn't that better than hanging around the city and catching nothing...again? This whole fishing from shore and doing it on your own thing is okay, but why not get or hire someone to show you how to join that elite 20% of fishermen who catch 80% of the fish?

Does anyone know if people still fish at the nuke plant in Pickering (just east of T.O) ? Fish right where the warm water comes out of the plant. I went there about 15 yrs ago.. don't remember if I caught anything..but I think apparently it was a good spot.
I think I saw a fishing show once when they went there.

If ya wanna do some shore fishing, and catch fish, hit the T.O. Islands.

Try Grenadier pond @ High Park ! There's panfish & bass, and also the islands (pike & bass) as others have suggested. Hanlans Island & Center island have some good fishing, same with the waterfront (fishable areas on the boardwalk). If you're not into walking & fishing, try hiring a local charter and have everything taken care of ! I left two links below for 2 charter guides in Toronto. There's also some excellent charter guides up at Lake Simcoe, out east in the Kawartha Lakes area and also out west in the Niagara region.

Some more suggestions:
you can try Ashbridges bay, Rouge Hill park, Frenchman's Bay, Duffins Creek Marsh, in addition to Grenadier Pond and G Ross Lord park
Good Luck to you.

Checked out the Humber last night for a couple of hours. Still a couple of weeks out before the Salmon are within distance maybe next weekend.
