I've looked for instructions to clean/lube and maintain my casting reel but its so confusing.
Does anyone know the basics to maintain a casting reel when storing over the winter time?
Such as type of lube and where to put the lube and which parts require the most cleaning?
thanks in advance.

These are some of the sites I use. You can also find some good "how to" books in your local book store. However, especially when it comes to the casting reels, I always take it to a professional because they can be complicated.

IIRC the quality reels have a basic maintenance pamphlet with the reel itself and some even a a little bottle of lube oil. However 2 tips are to clean off all gunk from reel ,wipe down and always loosen the drag on spinning reels until the next trip.
