Hi,

Im just started fishing and i got 2 rods nothing special and here they are tell me what you think, they are both 8ft rods, i am probably going to get a 10ft rod soon, just looking for a good rod for a good price. Tell me what you think about my equipment, I would say its not good.

Rod: Shimano 8ft TDR-80M2B

I use this rod for carp, catfish, bass and pike fishing, It's probably not made for all those fish but for me it works like a charm and never really had a problem.

my other rod here i use for salmon fishing and on a few occasions for carp, I have caught a couple 14-22 lb salmon with this rod i think, the rod is not amazing, the brand is not popular, it was cheap but its good for me.

Rod: Mako Calypso

You can never go wrong with Shimano fishing products (especially the 4000 series reels).

I have never heard of those other two below that, so I cannot say.

I agree - Shimano is always a good choice. I am somewhat familiar with your Shimano rod & reel, these are not fancy or expensive high end but if it works for you, all the better and that is all that matters.....

Making sure the rod and reel match YOUR preferred presentatino and techniques is what matters. The rods are tailored to particular presentations, and what I or others may think of equipment may be skewed based on our preferred approach towards fishing for target species.

I have never fished the rods you linked, but I know that when I heard 8' rod for bass, I thought to myself, "too long". However, the truth of the matter is, it would be too long for any technique I would use it for.

So, in the end, if it works for you, then I think the rod is great for you.
