2010 was a tough year to fish for bowfin....
lower water levels....most habitat and spawning grounds were lost to shoreline ...dead vegetation...severely low oxygen levels...
i landed 25 bowfin out of 143 on line....6 and 10lb test gave the bowfin a fair playing field
i did not catch the same bowfin twice....the following are pictures of 25 bowfin...5 pics of each

everything in my tackle box...
i caught a bowfin eating a goose carcass...there were feathers and blood all over the place...i caught the bowfin using a lure that appeared to be a competetor trying to eat his goose...so he attacked the lure

if you really seek adventure...locate a bowfin and then wiggle your fingers in the water...if your lucky the bowfin will bite your fingers....this fishing technique is called noodling...

very cool! I've never caught one of these, are they shallow water creatures im assuming, or are you casting out quite far? are they all over the place or only in specific habitats?

Your'e my hero.

I don't think noodling would apply to bowfin... unless you're looking to lose some fingers haha.
