my prefernces:
Rod: light-medium action
Line: 6-10 lb mono
reel: spincast

Lure: plastic worms, carankbaits (usually panfish does not leave any of live bait for bass to bite)

Some Perch are larger than bass, My biggest perch was about 11 inches, while my bass was about 8 inches.

I've caught my biggest on bottom fishing with worm. Don't bother fooling around with expensive crap.

Live bait always works. Where did you catch it? Ever caught any in the Credit River.

I think the biggest caught (and lost) were on Rice Lake fishing from shore. I never targeted bass in the credit, but there should be some big ones. Saw a small one pulled out.

twisty tail grubs have also produced bass for me when worms were doing nothing. I've also seen sheepshead pulled out of the credit

My personal preferences are:

bait casting rod & reel
12lbs test braid (especially helpful when the bass swims through the weeds)
Strike King white coloured spinner
Yamamoto 5" Senkos either wacky rigged or texas

Tried other ways like drop shot and jig n pig, but no success.

Berkley GULP! products work well too as well as crankbaits.

Cannot beat the senko's wacky style specially the Yama
Spinning reel for my son, circle hooks and braid.

3lbs even on the digital scale.

I use a baitcaster, Shimano Scorpion XT1000 and St. Croix rod. 20 lb braid with 15 lb flouro leader. Also use circle hooks 2/0, 99% of the time in the corner of the mouth.

2/0 hooks !!! Is that the right size for normal sm and lm bass, because salmon only need size 4 hooks or so, How big are the bass mouths, last time I caught one was on a size 4 hook.

They have a BIIIIIIIIIIG mouth, don't worry about the hook size. As for plastic worms, anything similar to Yamamonto Senko would work just the same. I have not observed any difference in the result, but a major difference in the price!

Okay, I'm now learning, so live minnows or live worms are not as good as senkos or artificials?and size 4 hooks are okay for bass?

Usually I use a shimano ultralight with a six pound line and use worms as bait with a bobber and size 1 hooks if live bait is allowed. If they are not allowed I use senkos and jigs (no bobber .

I you find a good spot for bass fishing in the area let me know!

CreekRunner, so far I found out that the credit river in July and June are good for smallmouth bass, Lake Aquitaine and Grenadier Ponds (few bass sm and lm I believe). In Brampton Professors lake and loafer's lake are full of bass also.

The bigger the live bait the bigger the fish

the problems with live bait is that the fish will swallow the hook or other smaller fish will swipe the bait.

tried artificial stuff and i was still pulling in pan fish but jumbo perches.
