there is a little lake here in brampton i fish for fun during summer has lottsa large mouth bass and even some pike. What ever i throw at them they smack it. I got lazy picking up worms so i went to bass pro got those lizard top water baits man they go nuts for them. When i throw it and start reeling it in all i see is torpedoes coming after it lol.

I know exactly what Lake you're talking about. North end of Brampton, right? I have no idea how pike got in there. lol

Forgot to mention buzzbaits! Really fun lure to use at the peak of bass season when they're active. Nothing more satisfying seeing your lure on the surface and then getting smashed by a bass!

I know exactly what Lake you're talking about. North end of Brampton, right? I have no idea how pike got in there. lol
me either lol it think someone put them in there long time ago for the tournament. I only cought one on minnow i got from a creek near by. and after that i just decided to to catch bass its easier lol.

CreekRunner, so far I found out that the credit river in July and June are good for smallmouth bass, Lake Aquitaine and Grenadier Ponds (few bass sm and lm I believe). In Brampton Professors lake and loafer's lake are full of bass also.
I went to Loafers Lake the other day around noon and fished for two hours using various artificial baits - not even a bite!

I have had success with various crankbaits, jerkbaits, spinner baits, topwater walk-the-dog type baits. I have had much less success with bass jigs, and other soft plastics - mostly because I have not given them a fair shake. Although, I am set on learning to jig fish this next year.
I find that all of the artificals out there will work to varying degrees, but require you, the fisherman, to learn how and when to throw them. For consistency, live bait will catch bass and numerous other species. However, there is a certain satisfaction I get from convincing the fish that an artificial is real enough to eat. It's the hunt.
I have numerous rigs for bass fishing depending on the technique, but a M or MH fast action rod would be good for an all around rod. 10-12 lb monofilament and a 2000-2500 size spinning reel and you are set.

the problems with live bait is that the fish will swallow the hook or other smaller fish will swipe the bait.
This is why I don't use live bait for bass.

i find bringing a backup is always key, especially when fishing with live minnows... if i get robbed a couple times i throw a stiffer yet similar colored fake minnow on and rig it in a way thats hard for the fish to tear off and easy to hook them when they're feeling sneaky
i dont dis artificial or live baits as they both have their time i find. when everything you throw stops working usually switching to live and small jigs seems to work for big bass.. and when its really slow switching to smaller presentations always works for me

Open water, around strucutre: Drop shot with 2.5inch minnows or 5inch floating leech-both GULP alive, dragging tubes on the bottom. Deep diving x-rap in perch pattern.
Heavy cover: I like dropping smaller senkos in pockets. Bucktail jig tipped with a worm or minnow ripped through the weeds.
All these applications I use 20pound braid with a 3-5 foot flourocarbon leader tied uni-to-uni. Exception is when dropshotting and scumfrog, because flouro sinks, I use mono leader. Both mono and flouro must be the right diameter when tying to braid. From 20pound braid it's usually 6-8pound leader.
