ANyone no if there is good fishing in port stanley

i'm interested in any responses to this thread as I holiday in Port Stanley every year. Never taken my rods though, usually busy playing with the kids on the beach :D

What was interesting to note is how the weather in April affects the quality of the salmon/trout runs.

There was or is a hatchery program above the lift bridge in Port Stanley where rainbow were reared. Some must return to the same small creek where they were released, I don't know of anyone that fishes for them in Port Stanley. I have heard of people fishing for and catching steelhead in Catfish creek up around Sparta. Trout are also caught in Otter creek which is in the area.Big creek also has runs of steelhead in the spring and fall. the Venison creek has similar runs.None of these runs compare to the runs in the Lake Huron tributaries IMHO. In the summer time smaller resident rainbow and browns can be caught in all the streams mentioned except Catfish creek.
