I just bought a Shimano Sahara 4000FD reel. What would be a good rod to go with it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Depends on several variables on exactly which rod to get, but If I was to only have one fishing rod and at a great price and unbeatable performance for the price, Ugly Stiks cannot be beaten! When it comes to price/performance ratio, Ugly Stiks are in my opinion the best rods out there. You can get the equivalent Uglly Stik for half or one third the price of what the comparable "higher end" rod would cost. Gimmicks mostly with a lot of what you see out there these days, but get the one that's proven itself, and you won't regret it! My Ugly Stik has never failed me...

If you're thinking ugly stik, might as well go with the shimano voltaeus. It's like an upgraded ugly stik for an even lower cost.

If you want sensitivity, qualitiy guides, light, good seat for a quality price...I would pair up the real with a Fenwick HMX. I got two and love 'em over most other rods, ugly stick included. Now depending on the application, its best to determine what specs you need on the rod, say if its a panfish rod go with a light 6foot6incher; tossing big pike baits 8'6" heavy....for versatility and multispecies i would go for a 7foot medium/heavy with a fast action tip.
