Hi guys, just wanted to share. I caught this big guy 19/06/11 circa 6:30pm Off the lake shore rocks by port credit. Very strong fight!
I used a pickerel style rig. Two hooks / worms with a sinker.

Any estimation as to how much this fish would weigh?
Thanks in advance

Nice catch! Its hard to land those monsters off the high pier!
Did you chum the area or just used the bait on hook?

The fish is definitely very ugly. I was excited it was going to be my first salmon catch!

I didn't chum the area. Right off the rocks with a worm. I was surprised. Within 10 mins of when i arrived i felt a nibble. After the 2nd nibble I hooked this guy and it ran with my line far into the distance. Earlier on in the season i was having a walk and i saw monster carp swim by in like a school of 4. I came back to the area didn't expect them to still be there or be actively feeding.

Would anyone be able to estimate how much it weighs

CONGRATS!

Looks like a good 20-21 lbs. (hard to tell)
Great to have a fish that almost spools your line isnt it.

Thanks for the report.

Ps: If you let them go, they get bigger .... and will be around next year, and the year after.
Food for thought, thats all.

Thanks! No problem. Yeah I let the guy go it was awesome watching it swim off. There was a walk way with lots of people strolling by that formed a circle as i was fighting the fish.
They all clapped when the fish was released it was amusing.

I am going to go there again this evening. Will update you guys.
Cheers

Cat's Claw Spoon from Bronte Outdoors near Dundas and Hurontario. They cost 1.50$ each so i stocked up on lots - they are heavy silver spoons. However the size hook they come with is too small so I put a bigger hook on.

And i Caught it late July from the Pier

i am not sure exactly but around an hour! I was using very low LB test and was scared of breaking my line. I let it run for while, bring it back, let it run. and by the time I netted it, it was practically not moving.
