Visibility

Has anyone been out to Bronte or Credit in the past few days? Im just wondering what the rain over the past few days has done to the visibility and flow of the rivers. My buddy might be coming down for the weekend but he doesnt want to waste the trip if there is less than 6" of visibility.

ya doesnt look too good, but it doesnt look like we will get the big rain that we had over the past few days. I'm thinking if there is 6" or more now then it should be up to my standards to fish it. With that being said I went out in the spring many times knowing that it would be extremely high and pure chocolate milk lol.

Some of my best fishing is done when the water is double double and raging.

You just have to adapt to it. The fish are still there, and hungry.

If anything they are more prone to feeding because they have the cover of the mud, and are less spooked.

But you can stay home if you want

Just looking for visibility updates JP, its a 1.5 hr drive for me and more for my buddy so any REAL help is appreciated.

hey guys just wondering if visibility plays a big roll in trying to float.. if it is pretty bad and vibrant colors be used .. or is it just pointless?

This is a little off topic but if its high and murky I use bigger roe bags and heavier weights/floats. You can also use fluorescent yarn rather than neutral colors.

went out today on credit south of 403 bridge had 5 salmon on didnt land any lol. vis was good could see the salmon in the water was pretty clear

The ganny is a 2 hour drive for me. I've driven it 13 times this season so far.

5 of those times were to see if the salmon were within casting distance. 4 of those times I went home empty ended and skunked.

I feel better doing the legwork myself than reading it on the net


That being said, East tribs are "ok" so far, but its still supposed to rain. Bronte is starting to be mud and credit.

well if its simlar to the credit river.. then yeh visibility isnt great

Nothing wrong with getting visibility reports from the net, no different than hearing it from a friend.

When you say visibility isnt great is it really bad? Like less than 6"? Oakville is supposed to get too much rain, 5mm between now and saturday so if it is still OK then it would be worth the trip. I just wouldnt want to go if it was really high with debris all over the place and less than 6" visibility.

well to be honest the way the weather has been ..rain wise, it may not be that bad but.. you never know

I get what you're saying, why give away your hard work...

But...this is an online "community" where we help each other out and learn from each others' experiences.

I've learned a pile from this forum, I'm sure everyone has.

We don't all have a luxury of getting out to spots everyday.

As long as we arent giving away spots, I think everyone wins.

visibility update? screw that go fishing. sounds like you guys like catching more than fishing it self... we drove to 4 different rivers today walked a bunch and some of the crew came as far as Brampton, doesn't matter if you live farther. everyone still pays for gas, heck it was even almost 10 cents cheaper out there than in the city... point is gotta put your work in to get paid, do your homework to graduate, go fishing to catch fish! catch my drift? well today we smashed fresh run of hungry steelies also cohos, and browns. there's your update.

if I wanted to "fish" I would have flung my rod in the back yard for 8 hours

LICENSETOPIN has the right idea. You'll get more experience going out yourself and learning rather than getting everything candy coated. I won't lie, the conditions are just gonna suck sometimes, but that shouldn't stop you :wink:

Guys the thread is called Visibility, I know some of you like to take pride in going out your self and seeing water conditions for yourself. I bet you put your fingers in your ears and yell LALALALALALALA when your friends try to tell you about what is being caught or what the water is like lol. Some people have relationships, jobs and other aspects of their lives and they have to make decisions of when is a good time to go out fishing and when they should spend time with their significant others and save fishing for next weekend. There have been plenty of times that I have went out fully knowing that the creek will have risen by two feet and there is pretty much zero visibility.

The thread asks if anyone has visibility updates, so please keep it to that. I hate it when everytime I ask for an update of some sort the same people post and say "get out there and check it for yourself". If you dont have an update then there is no need to submit a negative post. Thanks for all of those who actually gave updates, sounds like visibility is alright but I think i'm going to take today off and spend it with the girlfriend I might end up goin out tomorrow so I can maybe land one this year...0/7 so far lol.
