[/b]-Nice big SHINNY SPOONS (get em down deep and slow) and BIG SHINNY MEPPS ( down deep & slow) seemed to be the Trick.

thanks Blair for this report, it's inspired a new life of pike hunting in my soul LOL

I've always wondered the best ways to work spoons from shore. When you mean deep and slow, could you provide tips on how to achieve this? I know letting your spoon sink for variable times after you cast will let you experiment with different depths. But do you use a stop/start method when retrieving spoons? Retrieving for a few seconds and then letting them flutter down again?

Seems like I'm having trouble working the bottom.

Another thing, are you specifically looking for weed beds to cast around? I don't see many now-a-time in the winter hahah. =(

Those are some nice, healthy looking pike! Good catch.

Im new to the forum, so im doing some catching up on older threads, lol.

I live in NW Ontario, so I cant imagine the feeling of walking through the city with all your gear. To me, that would just be an awesome experience, gladiator like, haha.

I love it when older posts get bumped. Especially ones with pics like this. Nice fish. I've been lurking for a little while just reading and now I'm craving a trip for some early spring pike. Anyone know if anything close to KW is access able yet?

lol.

All I can imagine is being fully decked out in gear, getting gawked at and garnering stares from random passersby. Then my mind wanders, and I'm stopping a random bank robbery with a precise cast where my jig hooks the evildo'er straight through the lips, as all the now free'd hostages clap at my amazing abilities! For this one time, I will not practice catch and release!!!! Muhahahahaha.

Wait, where was I?

GB ... boy that makes me laugh and smile!

Just last spring heading out to the Islands and fishing the harbourfront for Carp .... was interrupted by 3 of the nicest looking girls from Japan.

Man, if I wasnt married there was some opportunity there!

Enjoyed the flirting and conversation (Mixed English and Body language).

Had them land a couple with the net .... We all had a great time!

That night .... I "Seemed" to be extra amorous with the wife.

Fishing can really bring people together.

Never hurts to set yourself apart from the norm.

Cool thing about Urban Fishing is that most people dont even relise it exists.

This is an interesting post.

Great to see some nice pike downtown. I always thought that water in High Park should hold some nice pike too.

I have been lurking for a while here, and think this year (as a bonus still being in Canada) that I want to get out and fish more than I did last year. Urban fishing for pike? why yes....lets try that!!

I've yet to get my first urban pike, anticipating more luck as the water warms. You should definitely give it a shot!

If I had all the gear ready I would be trying to get out on Sunday (albeit a little hungover from paddy day party on Saturday) :)

fishing gear onto crowded subways and buses. I'm used to having my 4 or 5 rods with me, minimum 2 when fishing....lol.

Besides we all drive so why stay in smelly TO for fishing when we prefer to be outdoors it's a mini get away. Fresh air, clean waters, excitment of going to new areas. I could be on Scugog in the same time it takes for me to get downtown, 50 min.

I might do it if I was desperate, or I'd just go to the bluffs.

LMFAO I know the feeling my license got suspended a few weeks back and my only option for fishing right now is port credit give or take a few miles
you should see the looks waiting at square one for the bus. there not all bad tho you get the odd person who doesnt think your crazy.
and note to self a rod carrying case aint such a bad idea. so I know we would all like to be in cottage country or atleast away from the city but when all else fails
atleast I can still fish. and ps to all you people on the bus thinking im crazy thats ok cause i am I'm crazy about fishing. muhahahahaha

That sucks about your lic man. Mine was suspended for like 6/7 months due to not paying 2 tickets...I still drove, I just didnt do anything to get pulled over. Got another friend who's lic has been suspended for like 2 years, for unpaid tixs as well...she still drives haha.

Well matters most from ALL of that is that you are aware that you are crazy as well. Once you have accepted that fact than life will be much easier on you...thats what alot of us have done...we all be craziessssssss!!!!!!!!!! haha
