Thx everybody for those helpful responses, esp Blair with his diagram. So, as I understand it, you should leave the hook bare for a better hook set rather than put a single egg (rubber or real or

try boiling single loose eggs till they get firm and let it sit out for a bit, u can hook em for single presentations

Boiling does make them work for single presentations.
Hardens them up nicely. (then some people add food colouring or leave em "White")
Didnt mean in anyway to imply you were wrong.
It does however remove the scent. (And in the Kitchen .. OMG the smell!)
If you keep some of the "oozy goo" from the original Zip lock bag or Jar ... then you can let the boiled eggs re-absord some of that original scent.

What good would real eggs be if the scent is removed? I mean, the egg scent is the only advantage roe has against other baits.
