hello, I am just trying to get myself into some steelhead here in ontario, i like to float fish but i do not have a drift boat, so looking for some shore fishing hopefully within an hour of toronto, also some tips on how you fish for them, i have done lots of float fishing for steelies in victoria BC but never in ontario so i was hoping to get some tips on what gear/ bait you are using. I appreciate the help!
Welcome to the CENTRE of THE UNIVERSE! (Toronto)
*SMILES*
1. Use same great "West Coast" - Steelie Knowledge (drifting... is drifting)
2. Pinkies (Worms), Roe, Beads, Malibu Fly, Hardware ... all work
3. Goggle the Lake Ontario Tribs (East GTA & West GTA) plus Niagara Region and Georgian Bay
4. Be sure to READ the REGULATIONS (link is posted on site)
-Read up on the reports (Tons of info in past posts & topics - Fantastic Resource)
-Post some reports
-Make some "New Friends"
GO FISHING!

What part of TO are you in, I ask b/c it can take 2 hours to get from the east end to west end of just the city due to traffic. I live in Scarborough (east) and there are lots of tribs east within an hours drive. I don't know about the west, I don't go that way much.
East Tribs:
1. Rouge River
2. Duffins creek
3. Oshawa Creek
4. Bowmanville Creek
5. Wilmot Creek
6. Ganaraska? not sure how long the drive is, I never been there but reputed as one of the best.
These are famed for steelies. I was on the Rouge today with Dann, nothing there. Hope this helps, and Happy B'day.

Yes, just make sure that you're fishing these creeks in the open section. Most of them are closed upstream from HW2, and Gannaraska you can only fish downstream from the first bridge. It is not going to be like in Victoria, I guess, but still fun to catch them here. Cheers!
