Just curious as to who went out today and how they made out. Personally i didn't do too hot hahaha. Ended up getting two little bullets (about a pound) a ton of little guys and a few small river browns. Ended up breaking off a couple bigger fish. Still a beautiful day!!
 
not a bad day got a few good ones posted pics above. was a bit cold in the morning but once i hooked my first chrome i forgot all about the cold :grin:
 
I didn't do too well. Not well at all actually!

Went by two creeks and skunked both times... I must be doing something wrong!

No worries...

Bet you discovered some new areas and learned the water more.
Steelies (Friggin Any Fish) can be hard to come by for multiple reasons.

Anyone who says their 100% is made of BS.
As they say: Next time!

Very few - but "Some" of the members think they have everything all figured out.

Haha, I've been skunked enough times I'm used to it :smile: but yes, I did explore new places and found more spots that I believe might hold steelies. Drifted my float over these areas for about 10-15 minutes then on to the next area that looked like it might hold some fish. So much more to learn haha.

Don't forget steelhead have on and off times for feeding. We find that early winter steelies hit best after the sun warms the water early in the day and seem to shut down around 11 a.m. when the sun is high . We will fish a hole for 2 hours without as much as a bump and all of a sudden we start hitting fish, knowing that they are there ahead of time helps. This time of year they are moving all over the river , but tend to head for the deeper pools , especially with structure , in the day.

Friggin Awesome!
The big water is definately Holding the fish.

I havent had "Sore Arms" since the Salmon and before that the Carp in the Summer.
Would be nice to get that from the Trout.

Went to Saugeen river. Was a spelly day, got skunked while I see about two hundred fish was pulled out. Argg there were five guys in a spot that must have pulled 80 fish out. All over people were catching. Frustrating to see. But I keep thinking that it's ok cuz these guys been fishing this river for 20 plus years.

Yeah, it does dissapoint you. But you gotta see what they are differently. The bait, setup, etc. Last year I started targeting trout in October and caught my first one in the following May. But every time I fixed one of my errors. And now I have had only one outing without a trout this year (Niagara!!). Be patient and see how others do it

Re:" how did we do today". Went out yesterday to my favorite area, lost one during the fight. Coming back home, I passed over a bridge that seemd to have a creek flowing under it. Put my gear on and walked along the creek until I reached a place that seemed to be good (actually from the amount of garbage there you could say anglers have been there!!). Cast first time, nothing. Second time, a snag. lost the hook. 3rd time, bang, a ~ 7lb female that went under a tree and wrapped the line around a log. took me 8 minutes to take it out without breaking the line and let me tell you, it brougth myheart to my throat. Every time the line went slack I thougth, shooot its gone. But it stayed on. So ended up landing it and then released back. Made my day! Love it when you go to a place you have not explored before and get such a nice surprise.

Tell you - I Repect and BELIEVE the guys who say they were skunked or lost quite a few ... more than the "Ones" who constantly (not just one good day) claim to be:
20/20

Not saying it doesnt happen - just have heard a few "Fishing Tales" in my time.
ps: Ever notice there isnt like 40-50 pics?

Cause why would "Any of Us" ever want to see all 40-50 of the fish caught that day.

80 fish darn can't catch that many the whole year lol. I never care about big numbers i just try and enjoy my day fishin, if i get lucky and get few hey that's a bonus for me.
