Went up north for two days with Dozer and his brother in search of some chrome. It was our first time fishing bigger water and we didn't know what to expect.

We left thursday morning around 5 am and made it to our destination within a few hours after driving through some snow.



It was extremely cold with strong winds and blowing snow, but we did fairly well. Landed a lot of fish and lost quite a bit too. The strong currents made even the smaller fish feel a lot stronger. These fish were definitely a lot better looking then the Lake Ontario ones

Overall it was a great time. Here's some of the pictures we took on shore..There was also quite a few fish we released while wading far out in the water and no pictures could be taken as we didn't take the camera with us.

Ha, I knew some one would comment on that.

It got slow at one point and my buddy put it on just for fun. First drift the fish smashed it. We were all surprised

You should never be surprised when a trout hits a pink worm, as they usually will out fish roe.

I know... we did fairly well with regular pink worms . As getin said, the one in the picture is usually used for bass, that's why we were surprised, never seen many people using a senko for steelhead.

good work fellas looks like u did good for u first time up there, thats whats it about exploring new areas and hooking into beauty fish like that

Was quite the trip, the snow was AMAZING, big, slow falling flakes, super thick, listening to the river, watching the float drop, ShanGri-La. Almost magical.

One word of caution, big rivers MUST be respected. One bad move or slip and you're going downstream, for a while...

We were new to big rivers so we had to adjust fast, the lesson learned...

OBSERVE OTHERS... this is THE best advice that can be given to anyone. Look at everything the other fisherman are doing and replicate, it will get you on fish.

The bite was really slow at one point for float fishermen, but darn, the hardware chucking fellows were doing well! Say perhaps, 1 fish every 5 minutes?

We adjusted accordingly and were rewarded with fish.

well i got up to the hot spot!!! very windy and cold 5 am, after few hours sun came out and turned out to be a great day!!!
amazing how many fish are out there.. i went 1 for 5, my friend went 7 for 14... only kept one...

hope all went well for all....

p.s. i forgot to bring my camera, and my boots..... i suggest you dont go in to 2 degree waters with out them,, even with 5mm neo's on.. but my DC runny shoes made for a great fashion statement .... lol

lol i was there with a friend, he said we would be the first down, when we got there, two people were already in the hot spot... maybe you.. lol
i now know why haveing a float reel is very good on that river... i think its time for me to get one.....
