Yes I've seen it used first hand but refused to actually try it out myself because I see it as a cheater tactic. It looks like a crib mobile for babys or an umbrella without the cloth. Usually 4 - 5 [3/8- or 1/2-oz jigheads baited with swimshads] are rigged to this contraption. It is best used for catching bass which are sitting suspended and are usually quite difficult to entice with a single jig presentation. Since there are 4-5 jigheads usually used, the presentation resembles a school of shad and catching two bass at the same time is very common. You can easily swap out the jigheads and replace them with spinnerbaits and troll the rig instead of casting it out. Personally I think rigs like this ruin the sport of Bass fishing but thats my two cents. The only exception for me is using the two or three way spreader ocassionally when ice fishing. I have also seen something similar but yet different being used in the east coast for mackerall fishing. Hope this helps.

Adding to this I do know that if you intend to use one of these in Ontario it can NOT have 5 hooks baited it can only have 4 max, using the 5th can result in major fines for those who are caught doing so
