I know years ago the numbers were much higher. It's sad how downhill this river has gone.

It's so close to my house, but I've never found any trout there. Has anybody else ever caught trout in the Rouge?

THERE are DEFIANTELY TROUT THERE!
- It is a hard river to fish
You need to put in the time, walking and discovering the pools and seasonal habits.
It would also be great if EVERYONE practiced Catch & Release there as well!
It looks like the Rouge Valley is going to become a NATIONAL PARK (Only designated urban one in Canada)
This should also help in strengthening it's future comeback.

Keep working at 'em Michael, a friend of a friend has good outings on that river, just need to know where to go on such a big system, keep worknig at it and she will pay off. I have caught a couple of borwns out of there over the last couple of years, didn't have much size to them but they were browns.
Within the next couple months (or sooner) the Suckers and Carp will also move in.
If you have an extra spool (if your using a spinning setup) ....
Put 14 lb on. Be prepared for a quick change over if the waters are suddely full of the Carp.
I've always been prepared to catch what's there!
Nothing better than being able to instantly diversify from chasing some chrome ... to nailing some REEL SPOOLERS in the same day.

Awesome! I remember seeing a huge carp among the salmon run this past Fall. I was trying to get it to take my roe bag, but it wasn't interested. I'm guessing some old-fashioned corn hair-rigged would do for carp fishing in still waters, but what about in a river with current?
I'm just imagining trecking miles down the rouge by my house in waders sight fishing for carp lol. Sounds enticing.

THERE ARE NO TROUT ANYWHERE IN THE EASTERN TRIBS--stay at home, you'll just be wasting your time.........................................
LOL thank-you this is what I suspected (relatively no salmon = no trout following them). What brings you to this conclusion?

Yes that's right, the same can be said of the western tribs too.....THERE ARE NO TROUT ANYWHERE IN THE EASTERN TRIBS--stay at home, you'll just be wasting your time.........................................
I guess what all this means is that I'm going to be forced to head up to The Soo.
