this last week the water visibility has been low around toronto harbour and toronto islands.......
sunday a group of us scouted the toronto islands....no carp in the shallows...deeper water low vis
wed today at harbour i had 3 pike follows...one 48-50 inch female the largest i have seen in that particular bay in years....
the other two were 31-33 inch males....
the carp in toronto harbour ussually appear two weeks after i start seeing the larger pikes spawning...they seem more comfortable around the smaller pike.
pike season closes april 1st so i am hoping for lots of carp.....
we have been working on new bait and rigging strategies...new to us....

Im thinking about trying for some carp on the Conestogo this weekend, hopefully the water clears up.

I was at the grand by conestoga college area and its still fast my bait wouldnt stay the current kept taking it away

Gotta look for the slower moving pools, I took a walk down the Conestogo this weekend at my regular carp spot and I didnt see any fish (you can normally see at least 5-10 fish roaming around) so I figured time would better be spent doing the spring yard work so I can fish next weekend.

I did end up going on a nice walk and found a couple of decent looking holes to try out on my next outing, just gotta pretend you didnt see those no trespassing signs lol. Its funny, there isnt a property or access road withing at least a km or two within these signs yet someone finds it necessary to put up these signs with barbed wire all around them. Your just enjoying a nice walk along the river and all of a sudden you have to turn around because you ran into somones property that consists of thick bush with a trail cut out through it...I wouldnt mind running into that property owner while taking a few casts...My guess is its probably some old senile dude who hates everything and anything.

That's like there's a pond just south of Cambridge loaded with pike yet the owner is older and grumpy and won't allow anyone to fish his pond. I think it's past visits to property's from "anglers" that feel the need to leave garbage laying around or abuses the fish when caught, its a shame really that the few wreck things for the rest of us. I've run into the old man a few times off his property and always ask with manners about fishing his pond and telling him I always pick up garbage when I'm fishing (mine and others garbage found) but to no avail.

be creative...shovel his snow.....do something to compensate him...offer a bottle of scotch with a solid value for each trip or a case of beer.....yes the price is steep....cost to travel up north or own a boat or cottage.......

I can't wait to get into some big carp, I'll be heading up first thing this Saturday morning. The biggest carp I've ever caught was about 6 or 7 lbs.

If they want to control the Carp there they should hold an annual fishing tournament with no limit and the most pounds of fish caught wins. They could use the carp caught in the tournament for something useful like fertilizer or something. Wouldnt get rid of them but it would at least help control the population to a degree.

OK, so I've never been to Cootes Paradise before but have checked it out on Google maps and I'm wondering if it's better to fish under the bridges on the outside of the fish barrier or inside the paradise and try and find my own little honey hole? .
