Mmmmm yeah. Sorry guys there are quite a few suckers in the rivers. Fat ones too and full of eggs.

good news is there are still a few steelhead mixed in.

I can assure you that steelhead season is far from over. There are many fish up north at Norval right now that are getting ready to spawn and then we will have the drop backs in a few weeks around opener. I was at Erindale yesterday and there were several trout caught. I do agree that there is lots of suckers...LOTS, but there are still lots rainbows in the river. I think we got spoiled a few weeks back when they were on fire everywhere. All we need is one good rainfall and a couple cool days and the last run of fish should come in.
Don't give up on the rainbows yet, just work a little harder for them. There will be fish for the tournament, think positive!

I hate suckers I was at the credit on monday, water was still a tad dirty and for once there was nothing biting. All I saw were a couple dark dark steelhead popping up near the surface once in a while to tease me . I too like everyone else think the season will be done before opener.

Oh well if this weather keeps up I'll be going for cruises in the summer car instead of hitting the credit on weekdays.

I completely agree, snow melt off, temp of spring fed rivers, tightness of river, water depth... I mean come on, we all know bows stage almost as long as chinnys, and... Have you guys ever hears of a little lake called Huron? And a bay called Georgian? Completely different cycle my friends. Colder water means longer staging. And the coment about the skeins... I got two hens on the weekend that were as tight as could be, still fully in skein, and I also got a loose hen... Back in December. Heh heh.

Havent seen a dropback at cw yet......everything you catch at thornbury is spawned out unless ur drifting out into the lake.
