Hey all.
Ever take inventory of your gear? I try to every year before the season gets going in full swing. I do so for the 'just in case' factor. Just in case it gets stolen, the house burns down and all the other reasons you can think of to need to get your gear replaced. If you haven't done so maybe you should because just think of how much money you would be out of pocket otherwise...
Here is my gear that I have a home, not including what I have at the cottage... LOL!

After scrolling through the first post my jaw drops. After scrolling through the second post I feel like I need to run to Bass Pro Shops. After scrolling through the third post I am checking to make sure you did not double post pictures. Nice gear

You will loose some from time to time so I stock up when they go on sale. as for the soft plastic grubs and stuff, some times they only last for one fish and if the fish are hammering that one pattern that day then you want to make sure you have more ready to go.A question from a noob "Why do you need so many lures?" Some of us anglers/outdoors enthusiasts enjoy fishing for multiple species using multiple techniques. After some experience, you become a much more well rounded angler, and it also helps to understand the species better. Eventually, you'll be noticing patterns to the fish, what to use, when to use it etc.
Sometimes it's just to keep things fresh and exciting. If you asked my what type of angler I am, I'd probably tell you I am primarily a jig fisherman. But honestly, while I do feel most comfortable jig fishing, it gets pretty boring day after day just jigging and deadsticking.
Some people like to be out on the lake to relax, moreso than fish, then, just deadsticking a minnow or a float set up with a worm works just fine, its hardly exciting, but if your there to relax....
And then some people I just think have an obsession and or like to collect tackle, just like many other things. I have a friend who has like 300 pairs of shoes, many of which he pays hundreds of dollers for. To me it's insane, but look at my tackle box... lol, it's the same thing really
Also, GBW is right on. Some days one bait and one bait only will produce, so you want to be prepared.
Imagine the heartbreak of planning a long hike through the woods to a pristine river. You get to your spot after hours of prep, travel etc. One cast, a beautiful fish hits, but breaks your line. "do'h, that was the last I have of those baits" You try something else, and nothing produces. Now you just went along way to wash some lures, lol. But at least your outside, enjoying nature I suppose.

Whenever I pass by a tackle store that is new to me or even when I pass by stores I go into regularly I just can help myself from stopping in and buying something......sometimes I end up leaving with alot more than I planned on leaving with too. I just cant help myself lol.

I've done that as well, haha. Not so much nowadays, but I used to even drive 5 hours to Winnipeg just to visit the tackle stores.
When I was in Alberta, I went to a store that had to have every Rapala lure ever made in every color made, and even though I only use maybe 10 Rapala lures, I still felt obligated to take a close look at every one. I never bought any, but I spent a good 6 hours in one isle, lol.
There had to be 20,000 lures at least, I was in awe
