Yeah, I saw them posted on an Invasive Species sign in a conservation area along with common carp, but I would not kill one of these even if it had a toonie in its belly. All settlers in NA are technically invasive species, aren't we? And I'm sure we've done more damage than any invasive plant or fish ever will.
Keep up that attitude and watch those nice size perch disappear right before your eyes! Judging by the amount of goldfish you are catching there the end isnt far...perch eggs are awfully tasty to a hungry school of goldfish.
On a bright note its good to see common carp on a invasive species sign.

We need signs for Steelheads too! Carp were in Ontario before them!

You mean the horribly invasive goldfish did not completely take over the lake. I am shocked. How can that be? That is totally contrary to the gospel preached by some . Go figure eh.Perch by far outnumber goldfish in that lake. There are so many perch, both big and small. I've caught over a thousand of them over the past few years. You can't keep them off your hook. I hope goldfish eat some perch eggs in there. It's full of weeds too, I see catfish chowing down on them but I'm sure they can use some help from the goldfish. I've caught less than 10 goldfish there.
I hope you enjoy many years of perch meals from that lake and keep posting pictures the the little gold guys.

It seems that those who are pro-invasive get special treatment around here.
Who is pro-invasive species?

and for those who want to discuss bow hunting i will remind that this is fishing forum.
or create a separate topic and go from there.

Not a single person has mentioned bow hunting. People talked about bow fishing, there is quite a difference. It is fishing, whether someone agrees with bowFISHING or not doesn't change that.nice goldfish salmotrutta, hopefully you will catch a 20+ next time.
and for those who want to discuss bow hunting i will remind that this is fishing forum.
As for the pruning, it's very selective. Every last post on this page is off-topic, but that's different?

Clearly you should not be a Moderator if you do not know the MNR's fishing regulations. Page 11 in the summery:
Sorry but there are many ways to fish, other then angling. And last I checked this is "Ontario Fishing Forums" Not "Ontario Angling Forums".
NON-ANGLING METHODS OF CAPTURING FISH
Residents and non-Canadian residents with a valid recreational fishing licence may fish with one dip net, one seine net, one spear or a bow and arrow for the species and during the periods outlined below.
Carp
Bow and arrow, spear and dip net (during daylight hours only)
Open Season: May 1 to July 31
Zones: 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15 (except Algonquin Park), 16, 18, 19, 20
Limit: No limit
Perhaps you should READ the regulations before you open your mouth again and remove all doubt.

Not wanting to kill goldfish from that lake, doesn't make me pro invasive species.

The pro invasive comment stems from a growing frustration I am having with this forum. It seems that a majority of people here advocate for the "naturalization" stance which is a very damaging belief. What I find most off about the popular consensus on this forum is that if you go on the water and talk to anyone there 9/10 people will tell you that carp are invasive and they would like to see them gone because of the damage they cause.
Better read this post quick, its being deleted in 5...4....3...2......................too late!

Salmotrutta wanted to share a picture of his first carp, however the discussions turned into bow fishing and invasive species. If someone has good knowledge about bowfishing, by all means share information and discuss gear and technique by creating separate topic, but be respectful to other members and don't go off topic in their thread.

JimCanuck, bowhunting or bowfishing carp, what ever you want to call it, i never said you were not allowed to do that, so perhaps you should not jump to assumptions that i don't know the regs so fast.

You actually did, although you realized that mistake and fixed it. You said this is a fishing forum not hunting, meaning to take that elsewhere, THEN edited to say you can make your own thread afterwards.
As for the actual issue, why were the rest of the posts left? They are just as, and in some cases more off-topic. As well as the OP said he didn't have a problem with an on-topic picture. This thread was about his catch this past week, as was mine as stated and others have posted pictures as well. Or are we not allowed to contribute if someone doesn't agree with it?
FYI, the topic never even went into bowfishing (at least all the posts that were originally deleted). There was a discussion ALREADY in place that was off-topic. I simply CONTINUED that discussion that was being discussed, and contributed a bowFISHING picture of a carp I got. That isn't in the slightest talking about bowFISHING; its a fishing picture, nothing more. Meanwhile, the actual off-topic discussion was left and is still in place. Then talking about the taste of carp again isn't bowfishing.
There was only 2 or so posts that took place asking about bowFISHING gear, which is about bowFISHING and are out of place (better suited in another thread or in PM if its a direct question to an individual), but those were deleted in the second pruning.
Either the rule applies all across, or its being selective.

Hit the nail right on the head there. Selective post deleting is not cool.

Clearly you think bow fishing is bow hunting, and that it apparently shouldn't be readily discussed on these "fishing" forums. Bow fishing is a legal means of FISHING in Ontario. It is not hunting, therefore its on topic to the forums. And it shows you do not know the definition of FISHING according to the MNR.

however the discussions turned into bow fishing and invasive species.
Except the invasive species posts are STILL above us, instead no, you first deleted postings by my brother about his carp, and his response to Hammerhead about if my brother ate it or not.
Why because my brothers answers to Hammerhead were not satisfactory to Hammerhead?
