"My name is blurred1, and i am a top water-aholic".
I am always looking to improve my top water arsenal and was hoping to get some good advice from members.
So post your favourite top water lures and setups so that i can try em out.
Don't be afraid to include pics and stories of the monsters you caught or lost on top water.
Looking forward to it,

Caught this 20 inch beauty fishing off the dock at my cottage. Nice overcast morning just after a night of rain. The lake was calm and this smallie smashed my '"wall mart discount bin popper" like a chuck liddel uppercut.
**Sad side note: I had another one around the same size not 10 mins later, got it to the stairs of the dock, and just as i got in the water to land it, spit the hook(i actually dove in the water and tried to catch it by hand...... fail)****

BTW - I can get the "Walk the Dog" motion from the frog.

Or I could just go back and rent that cottage out again -.-
maybe it was the same fish!
I have yet to get a surface popper as of yet but looking into it quick times! Definitely have to try it out before winter comes about. I really do have to say though that, top water bait has given me tons more experience, love them!

I picked up a few new ones this year that I am dying to try out in the proper settings though.
Same as FishingNoob, i picked up a Live Target hollow body leopard frog that I'm looking forward to using. I also have a larger Booyah Pad Crasher but the Live Target lure seems to be higher quality and the realism is just spot on.
I also got suckered into buying a Live Target Walking Frog after watching some fishing shows and seeing the guys have some great success with it. I've also read some great reviews on it.Plus it just looks super cool and again, the realism is right on.
I also picked up a new Rapala X-Rap Pop that I'm looking forward to trying out. Thought it looked cool in the store and it was a good price so I grabbed it. Did some reading on it after I purchased it and Outdoor Canada rated it as 2012's #1 new top water lure. We'll see about that.
I'm heading up to the French River this weekend to do some fishing so I will let you know how these guys do!

Last year I would often travel out with only my jitterbugs - perfect for the calm water at sunrise/sunset

Do you have a lot of success with your skitter pop? I've never had anything attack mine yet. Yours looks like it may be one size up from mine.
I'll have to keep trying it.
Yup, especially in shallow water. Run it beside a weed line and you should hit something. It was my go to lure on my last trip for bass.

I once casted my home made double bladed buzz bait between two clumps of weeds floating on the surface. I did'nt even get a chance to get the blades going when BAM. The whole lure submerged and pulled sideways. My cast was only about 30 ft away so I fought it for about 2 minutes. It was a 3 lb LM with a fat belly to it. I was not expecting it to be that big. That was a late afternoon on a sunny day and the weeds were shaded. I let that puppy go to fight another day. It was great to catch a fish on lure I made myself. Buzzbaits are fun to just watch as they spin and spit up water all over the place. Gotta love them.

Question!
Whats the difference between a Hula and Skitter popper?
I could have asked anyone but being apart of TWA I thought you would know best
Is it the same thing or a bit different with the action?

Also from what ive seen Hula poppers have a much larger and deeper lip on them. I have 2 skitter poppers in my box right now and absolutely love them.

Favorite lures are the Arbogast Hula Popper & the Gitterbug (original), but just recently bought the Bass Pro Shop - XPS Pro Series Popper (little more expensive than the Hula Popper) as well I bought the Bass Pro Tourney Popper that was for sale at only 1.99
I haven't had the chance to try out the new poppers but will let you all know how they do.

Recently I went on a spending spree and bought an additional 3 Hula Poppers so I have enough for the whole family, but the colors available were black, perch and frog.
