Inspired by the dollarama thread... Im a newb and i guess you can consider me a "frugal angler" I know theres a whole section on "hot sales"

i wanted to know if anyone knows if there are any yearly sales that any online shop or even bass pro would have. (walmart or CT?)

for example. I ride a motorcycle and im sure some riders know Royal Distributing have a pretty great sale once or twice a year... that would be the best time to load up on gear.

For fishing tackle and lures, is there a peak time to buy? say off seasons like winter? does anybody find that lures and tackle are much cheaper in winter and tend to go on clearance?

anyone notice any trends amongst the retailers?

LeBaron has No-Tax sales at least once a year, I think they usually have one on Boxing Day.
I believe they had a no-tax sale this year already, maybe they need more business.

I usually buy my lures on sale at canadian tire. At any given time they always have a couple different lures on sale. I think bass pro has a big fishing sale every once and a while, last time they had cotton cordell super eyes for $1 and a bunch of other stuff.

While I do shop at local "Mom and Pop" tackle shops I also shop at Bass Pro online and right now they have the "buy more than 75 bucks and get shipping free" which I have used twice this summer. I buy Bass Pro's XPS Lazer Eye Static Shad at 3.99 a pop and their Tourney Minnow which they have on sale online for 1.99. Love em!!!!!!!!! My attached photo is of a 21 inch walleye I got last night actually on Strike King's 1.5 inch Kevin VanDam Rattlin crankbait i purchased online with Bass Pro for a 1.99. The Crappies last night loved it too.

FYI in comparison, the Bass Pro XPS plugs are actually "better made/constructed" i find than Strike King's cheaper plug line.

Sail's Burlington bargain bin can be fun at 2.99 a pop.

Adios $14 lifelike plugs!!! lol (i can't stop singing that, it's my summer mantra!) :D

lol, gosh we had fun with that Dollarama thread :)

Honestly Bro I get most of my stuff from e-bay if my local guy can't find it for me first I have purchased over e-bay and got multiple lures for as low as half of retail price. Check into it in about October when fishing is slowest thats when you will get some nice deals but be cautious some prices are higher than retail due to shipping costs. But if you do your home work it will save you some serious coin.

Great catch. I like the look of the live targets but ya $14 for real? Do the fish really get a chance to inspect the lure to see if it's the real deal, I don't think so.

Right about now some CT have clearance boxes, they did 2 weeks ago when I bought my Rapala baitcaster. Might still be some stuff left. Just have to go a take a look.

I'm sure some one will add to the Dollarama thread, I was going to throw in some pics of stuff I just bought there.... ;)

Hey, I have found the best deals on fishing tackle on ebay, kijiji and at garage sales. It really depends on what you are looking for, but I have bought both new and used stuff really cheap, like 50 to 60 % off retail price for new lures. I have never experienced Canadian tire having any decent sales on lures. I recently bought several rapalas from a kijiji add for $4 a piece, then I went to Canadian tire to replace a nice shad rap I had lost, and paid $11.99 for a lure! Insane I tell you. Another good sale is the Bass Pro spring sale. They have this event usually for 2 weeks where a lot of their products are on sale. Anyways, it is always good to look around!

I find that you have to carefull about some of the "Retail Prices" some stores advertise when they have something on "Sale".

A while back the "Pflueger President Spinning Reel" was on here as a "Sale Price" Bargain at CTC. I just checked now and it's back to their Regular $79.99 RETAIL Price.

It was Supposedly On Sale back then at $59.99

EXCEPT.......
Bass Pro's REGULAR Price is $49.99 to $59.99 and Four different Models of the same reel. 4lb to 10lb test. With ALL the Technical Details Of those Models Listed on there..

Good Luck with "Details" at CTC! They either aren't there or they're wrong.

Just out of Curiosity I had a look to see if I could find that reel as a "Combo" (which I'm not usually big on). but some of the ones on BP look pretty good. Found one....forgot to "Save" it so I have to finish this or I LOSE IT!! Then back and Edit.

I've gone to look at a few of CTC Rods on sale. 3 different stores. No Stock, even though it said on their www site that those stores had stock of that rod.

Never had a look at Kijiji but will later tonight. That site is great, no matter what you're looking for. OR wanting to sell.

I'm looking for a Semi Classic Corvette (75 to 79). Everyday they send me an Update on all the ones that have come up that day. At least 5 or 6 of them.

I subscribed (no charge) to the areas I want to "Watch" and those are the ones I get.

HUUMMMM? I guess you could do the same thing for "Fishing Equipment". There You GO!!!

Back In A Bit!!

I'm back from Bass Pro Shops!! Sorry it took so long but I "Just Had To" look at some other stuff while I was there. I.E. It's ADDICTIVE once you get there.

Okay. The Pflueger President Reel and Possibble Combos at BP. Short recap ..... CTC Regular Price $79.99 Sale Price for one week $59.99

Bass Pros
Regular Price $49.99 to $59.99. . Four Different Models.

COMBOS:

Quite Frankly (Or Harry) I was amazed at the ONECombo that was available with this reel!

It came with a Bass Pro GOOD Quality Graphite Rod. See their price above? The Combo was $69.98 To $79.98!!!

Price Spread was because you have 46 CHOICES for this ONE Combo!! I.E. 5'-6" To 7' Rods ...Light To Medium Heavy Rating .... 4lb To 10lb Line. I THINK that was it :o OH! FULL Technical Details on ALL.

I Downloaded, Cropped, Cleaned Up, Enlarged, Shrunk, The Info, and Brushed My Teeth  . so on, so fifth..

Results are as Below ...OR....Wherever they show up (or down).:!: :?:

ALSO: Another Forum was discussing "Drop Shot" Rigging. Thay have a NEW Hook designed just for that. 5 For $3.69 Easy to Attach and Swivels 360 Degrees with NO Line Twist. Pic of that and Details also.

i need to get me some of those drop shot hooks and weights ...

Canadian tire is kind of a rip i find.... some of their products prices are so marked up.. when it goes on clearance its just.."mehhh.." really gotta do homework with the rods.

I think they still have that zebco rod and spinning reel combo.. from 49 or something to 9.99 i saw crap load of them last time

I used to buy my lures from Walmart, Canadian Tire and Dollarama (for really cheap spoons). Until I stumble upon LeBaron while driving along woodbine, south of Hwy7. They have awesome collection of lures. Cheaper than Walmart and Canadian Tire (this even on sale lures). great collection of rods and reels as well. They just have more inventory than both Walmart and Canadian Tire. I'd say Bass Pro would still be the better store, but It's just far if you're at the east end. Also check website flyers for better deals.
