Waders

Which is more preferred/comfortable: boot-foot or stocking-foot?
For some reason I am partial to hip waders.... I can see how they wouldn't be ideal in all situations though.
I love ice fishing as well, so it'd be nice to have a pair of waders good for all year round fishing... does such a thing exist?

I will be in the BIG city next week to buy some waders (yes, I have searched this forum for previous conversations RE: waders, didn't find this comparison).

Hi:
Stocking foot, breathable waders--you have your choice of boots and provide better footing...of course I don't think they come in pink...
Indeed, I'm sure hip waders would be a fine choice...perhaps they have them with a seam up the back...
Seriously, if you plan on doing cold weather steelheading (is there any other kind?) then invest in some decent gortex FHLR...

yet to see a guy in pink waders
Who knows what'll happen at the saugeen OFF trip...
Why do you need waders for ice fishing?? Isn't the water a bit thick to be swimming?

Sorry to disappoint, I'm not a guy.
However, CC may be up for some pink waders.

Just easier than wearing full thick snowboarding pants/jacket. Can get away with waders & a hoodie (ice hut).

XD
On a serious note (somewhat) I am in the market for a decent pair of waders after falling in the creek today and having water rush over my knees while I wasn't paying attention to my footing. I have already looked into them and decided on breathable sock footed ones. Can anyone give me tips on which soles to get on the boots as well as good but somewhat affordable brands.

Soles with metal studsIf I ever run into random money I am calling out everyone who said they would wear pink waders. The money spent would be worth it to see someone stomping down a packed river in pinks.
