I was always curious about fishing on Rice Lake so I finally decided to pull the trigger and test my luck there. We arrived around 7AM and took off half an hour later (on a rented boat). As suggested by many, we went first to the shallow, weedy area around Indian river, across from the Sugar Island but it was pretty disappointing ... not a bite. We were looking for bass so we moved around 9:30 to the area around upper and lower Foley Island and along the eastern lake shore. This didn't change a thing ... it was pretty quiet, too quite. I think we tried many different things, from spin baits to cranks and jigs but it just didn't work. My son end up pulling one small 1lb bass and that was pretty much it ... we called the day around 3 o'clock. Even though, the trip wasn't the best fishing experience, I'm planning to go back and give it another try.

Yes, I saw the post ... it looks like he destroyed the bass that day. I might go out again before the end of September.

Buddy.... Rice Lake can be BRUTAL too the BEST of US!

Check out the Resident Freakin expert DIGGY (Dirk)... he just SLAYS THEM BASS up there.

* Course he owns a cottage, has a GARDIAN ANGEL, Pays off the BASS MAFIA...lol

Sometimes I would rather go fish a Puddle that SALMO has already hit, then take my chances up there.

Love the determination!

IT WILL PAY OFF!

Rice lake can be great and other times dry as a skunk it all depends on what the fish feel for. Also that lake has a lot of pressure so the fish i think are hook shy. Good luck and keep trying I usually do alright there but do get skunked every so often. Good luck and keep trucking!!!
