I'm brand new to the forum so I thought I'd see if anyone out there fishes the rideau canal in ottawa much and if you have any luck? What do you fish for mostly? I caught a couple bass yesterday but I don't know many good spots. Hopefully some of you out there have some experience in the area.

Fair enough Noob, I figured that with all the talk about spots around the GTA and the lack of search results.

Try HogsBack falls. There is no shortage of good fishing in the Ottawa area. Try anywhere along the ottawa river for cats, eels, pike, walleye, bass. Chaudiere falls be careful the water is fast and trechorous. Whatever you want it's all around. Good luck! I've never heard of anyone having much luck on the canal, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some action out of there. You can also try Dow's Lake.

Hog's Back (mooneys Bay) is excellent!
There are: bass, catfish, walleye and MUSKIE there.
I also used to fish behind the RIDEAU TENNIS CLUB (some rapids).
Would also take the Boat down from Mooney Bay to VICTORY HILL (Dam/Weir) off of PRINCE OF WALES DR.
