[/quote]Lightly dressed Intruder pattern I made up ,once in the water it presents a profile and markings that mimic other baitfish more realistically than just a bunch of maribou....a #8 octopus hook tied to some backing trails from a 1 /0 hook that has had the hook cut off.CC is tying the same with I think articulated shanks ...both improve landing success I think.before water they look like this

Either way awesome catch. Would be cool to hear details on the rod size. She'd bust up my six weight easy!!

You good sir are the king! I'd love to get my hands on the recipe for that intruder.....I'm still new to tying so I was wondering how to split the fibres for the body.

Chach.
Pretty hard to describe the whole tie here, however one thing that has helped me when casting this size presentation is to NOT overdress this size fly.Instead when each of the 2 sections of "hackled " or tied in feathers are added, ensure that Immediately prior to applying the hackle, create a chenile or dubbed ball so that the feathers when tied tight against this ball ,tend to direct outward somewhat perpendicular to the shank. When lightly dress and in the water these feathers undulate backwards, providing an outlined profile of a bait fish with lateral markings coming through from what has been tied to the shank (silk in this case). What I try not to do is tie too much material on,so that come time to cast and present, that I'm not slinging around a wet ball of heavy marabou.I'm told this chenile ball if of high contrast to the rest of the fly and highly visible becomes a target for the fish!!??If you tie lightly and use maybe size 4 or #2 size salmon hooks they are manageable on your six weight .I use a six weight and swing flies on smaller rivers. She would not bust up even a 4 weight so give her a go.
