What happened was that Godaddy received a copyright complaint from another website, due to one snippet of text that a forum member had copied and pasted into a post back in 2010. (a bait caster factoid)
Without any questions asked, and with no warning or opportunity afforded me to remove the offending content, Godaddy took the site down.
As this is a discussion forum where anyone can register and post any content they wish (and members often post snippets from elsewhere on the net as reference), having a host that will act first without prior warning will be problematic going forward. I will therefore be looking into moving to a new host that offers faster, more reliable hosting, and also a host that will have the courtesy of allowing me to remove any offensive content prior to shutting down the site in the event that any future copyright claims are made.
I apologize for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience and understanding.

Sorry guys, I've been working all day with the hosting company
who will remain unnamedGodaddy to get the forum back online.

I'm glad it's resolved. But what can and cannot do is still not really clear to me. Is everything said in a forum copyrighted? No one can copy and paste into another forum and vise versa?

Well my Avast anti-virus pop-up said OFF was a malicious malware redirect. I thought someone hacked into our beloved site and wiped or corrupted everything here.

Thats pure bollocks, Godaddy just got too big I guess. Its easier for them to just shut down rather than to take the time to contact you.Sorry guys, I've been working all day with the hosting company
