Having just moved to the area last year my son and I have put in a lot of leg work and shore time, I have to give him credit as he is only 3 and loves coming with me. Having used the advice of all of you and lots of searching online we have had some really good days and some good adventures.
A couple days ago we went on a search for some panfish for him and to be honest anything for me a I have had a really good skunking for the last two months. He out fishes me on almost every trip. Lucky bugger.
So using some previous advice of members we got to our spot with our clean up bag and goby bag, we always leave with both bags full. This day was like most others he was killing it, the sunnies were all over his line and he was loving it, to be honest so was I. Seeing him run to his line and reel it up yelling I got one daddy look it's a big one, makes me happier than any fish I could catch or not catch. With his drag low he fights the mighty sunnies and we laugh the whole time.
I remember doing the same with my grandpa and feeling like there could be nothing better then going to the river to watch him tie our hooks and tell us the stories of all the fish he would catch and as long as we were patient we would catch them too. Life can be hard and stressful but these days make it all seem worth it, even when we catch nothing, which is a lot of times, we have fun. Little in life is better then this.

Great to hear the both of you are finding bonding time. It's something he'll remember for the rest of his life too.

Thanks for the great story. Hope to see pics of him with his big fish.

+1, watching my 9 yr old boy landing his first LM Bass. I was prouder than when I caught my PB. Keeping them young ones outdoors is so much better than watching them play video games and watching TV.

Wow! Your a rocking Dad. That's some awesome bonding time!

P.S - Don't let him catch all the fish, or he might start thinking about teaching you how to fish!

One of the best write ups I have read on here for some time.

Life can be hard and stressful but these days make it all seem worth it, even when we catch nothing, which is a lot of times, we have fun. Little in life is better then this.

Thanks everyone, I have enjoyed so many of your stories and advice I felt I should try to share something as well. And don't worry it has already gotten to his head he gets home tells mom how many fish he caught, which is usually hundreds according him and never fails to mention that daddy didn't get any. Well worth though.
