What is that bait you're using in the first pic?
That is an articulated flesh fly with a tangerine 8mm bead in the middle. We try and mimmick the salmon flesh floating in the river from all the already spawned dead salmon from the summer's and early fall's salmon run. I was throwing the same fly pictured but in a grey color mimmicking old washed out salmon flesh. Technically I was "matching the hatch" and it worked but the fresher looking flesh fly in the first picture outfished the other.
