Lol i can put mine in a bucket of sand and spin that thing without a problem, i guess 20$ pins are more durable then the 500$ islanders. Hehe, waiting for the hate to come my way right about...... now

double edge sword chasintails. your sand might come out np but your line will get stuck between the spool and the backplate as easy. :P

In all realness, I almost broke down the first time my Islander hit the (I don't even want to say it) rocks...but I got over it.

Finally hooked up and landed a couple this past weekend.  Was about to call it quits after fishing for 4+ hrs or more... had to setup my line a couple times due to bad line twist/nests and snags...  said to myself, "one last drift" then was going to head home and then...... bam!  Hooked up to the smaller buck, then after 4-5 drifts after hooked up to the other one.   :)  A great day.  I don't normally keep any fish as I don't like to eat them and fish for conservation but my wife absolutely loves trout - so kept these 2.

I thinks its 15 lb powerpro camo, then 8 lb maxima ultragreen leader. No line twist and its fairly strong so i can pull out these things from the heavy cover they hide under... The line is actually through the first guide, despite what it looks like in the picture lol

Had a good morning, landed a jack chinny which gave quite an acrobatic fight and then later a big big boot. Looked jammed with eggs but put both back. Those were my first salmon on the pin. I fought the big one for about 20 minutes, I just couldn't get it out of the current and then whenever I gained ground on it it would just fly back out. I actually thought I had a sturgeon or a 30 lb catfish for a while. The jack took a bead and the female took a wooly bugger.

Current 2014 salmon count at 9 which is a big improvement from last year's 1.
