It was definitely crooked and it was released very nicely and hopefully will be caught again one day

someone else posted a pic of a jack salmon that was all bent out of shape too. must be a kind of skeletal defect. 

 

good to see the fish made it though to adulthood considering.

though i wonder if a fish with that defect spawns, will its offspring be more likely to share the same problem?

A few memorable fish from my trip to south east Alaska chasing steelhead. The chromer was the first fish of the trip and completely kicked my ass. So fresh she must have just gotten into the river from the ocean that was only a few miles down. The second one hit a dolly llama that looked like a rat. Natural rabbit strips made it look like a nasty rat. Why even tied that fly on I don't even know but it caught that fish. I was down river of him and saw him Coe out of a log jam from the corner of my eye. I cast up stream to him and he moved up to smash the fly. Very cool to see

Headed up north to a back lake - donated blood to the Great North Blackfly Blood Bank, smoked some, drank some, caught none.  darn it was a good time - back later to make some fishheads roll.
