Longnose sucker?

PS. I'm not questioning why you put the photo up, I'm asking if that's the species

Are sucker considered decent table fare up there? I wouldn't mind trying one out of clean water.

Yes. These guys can be found pretty much anywhere. I'm sure some people must eat them here but never heard of anyone eating them. I have seen them used as burbot bait on set lines. I caught it while fishing a smolt pattern in a lake that has creek access. When I stopped stripping to talk to kid asking me questions I guess thats when it hit the fly. When I picked up my line it was on the other end. A buddy of mine cut one up for burbot and the meat was white, it looked alright to eat.

Wow that's a nice fish!! That looks more like an ocean run steelhead, not lake run. Great job!

ya i think thats the point of this thread, so everyone who wants to put up a pic can do so without starting a new thread. i think 23 pages is pretty ultimate! if you want to bash people or shoot your mouth off start your own thread. this is for pics and comments about them.

Lots of nice lakers poppin out the Niagara this year! great to see.

My steelhead gear has accumulated some dust over the last couple weeks since there has been good ice around, busy doing this stuff for a while.

Buuut since the last couple days have been nice and didnt have to worry about deicing my rod tip every 3 drifts, decided to see if I could get my first headshakes of 2013.
