yaaa..at that point I was so frustrated for being trying everything in my arsenal with no luck.. that I thought what the heck let's give the eggs a shot..

That's a combination I have been intending to try. I don't have a centerpin. I've done a little float fishing with a spin reel but it's a bit awkward. As I see it, on smaller rivers such as the Bighead the fly rod with roe or worm would cast far enough and could be drifted downstream w/o a float. I've caught specks that way many years ago with a worm.
