i think we should keep it at the east west GB level. i noticed a lot of guys name off the gbs like the naughty, goon, beav and mate, but you dont see the gta tribs names up as often (other than BRONTE PIER BRONTE PIER). there are over 7000 members here now, and if you consider we have probably less than 50 "regular" contributors that equalls a lot of people that just use it for hot action. the g/b outdoors site has a few levels of boards which are based on number of posts. might be a good way for this place. jmo

I know, I keep saying it, but a VIP section would eliminate alot of "viewers" from seeing where so and so caught a fish and on such and such trib. Threads are just too opened to the public, and the public knows how to use OFF and other forums to gain information as to where to go. As such that OFF has so many skilled and successful anglers, they will inevitably attract "mosquitos". All dissagreements, arguements and complaints of who said too much or showed too much would be ancient history. As only dedicated, loyal members of OFF would have access, much time and effort would be saved, no more need to manipulate photos...etc. I too have mentioned rivers, but it's always been where I have not caught or seen fish. Is this to be banned also? The squiters will take that info and move to the next trib, again OFF is used. Information goes both ways.

dude imo you cant even mention names etc. if you google said river and its all spelled correct it gets picked up by the seach engine. with the number of dedicated river fisherman using online/social media it leads to crowds. try it on an ice fishing board and see how that goes. i bet if you google some of the rivers you like to fish this site would come up! again jmoDepends a lot on the river. e.g. If I said they were hitting on the Notty yesterday, that would not be very specific because it has many, many kms which is still open for fishing. But if I said the same thing about the Beaver that would be very specific because the open section is very short. OTOH,It's generally crowded to the saturation point anyway, so more publicity might note add to the crowds(Unless folks queue up for spots, which I wouldn't put past some people! Just don't look for me in such a queue!

I like the east/west/gb idea as far as naming spots goes, more specific questions can be handled via PM. If you frequent the forum even a bit you know who is in it for the community and not just looking for a quick tip.

I really do think that the best solution is to also make the steelhead and salmon section viewable only to members.

you are never gonna stop this issue---even the grand pubas of this forum could tell the neighbours kid that he just fished somewhere--that kid goes and tells his buddy---and so on and so on---it inevitable-its like the gas prices-people spend hours and hours discussing what will simply not change-- those same people sit outside gas stations and idle in line for an hour to save 2 dollars---everyone must be assylimated lol

My opinion differs when it comes to backgrounds in Photo's. I truly feel that if you can recognize the background in a photo, you deserve the tip off that fish have been caught their. Now i understand that there are some east trib spots that everyone and their uncle knows the background of. That's a flaw in my theory and users discretion in needed.
This is all my opinion, Please avoid arguing with me about it. It will get us both no where. Just like YOU have opinions I have opinions and that's the great thing with humanity. We are all different.

x2I have to say I have full on experienced what happens when rivers are named and its not good. Showing up to my local trib after a post and where there is usually 1 cars there is 100. Not only that but from my experience the crowd that shows up everyone leaves with 2 fish........everyone One particular post was a simple response to a "Hows (Insert River) been fishing." The reply was two words " It's On" and bang 98 more people then there should be.

i did it myself in the early days of the net. ruined a great icefishing spot only a few of us fished. next weekend 50 guys were there, and it has never been the same since. that was when way fewer people used sites like this. the tackle shops are bad enough. now we have googlebots giving it all away.
for the next 6 months there will be fish in all systems............somewhere

I went 38 for 53 in the Thames River yesterday......It would be funny to make threads of disinformation. Basically making a couple posts, that outline specific spots that are absolute garbage, but talking about them as pure golden honey holes. If they wanna mess up our fishing outings, we can mess up theirs.
