When I go for bass, I bring ny 6' ultra light with 6 bls mono. Anything more than two pounds, you'll have a hell of a fight. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I need my fix of the tug anytime of the year.

Fishin' is fishin' and any true angler wouldn't care what kind of fish is being caught. Yes people may have preferences on species. Thousands of anglers a day target Bass and is just as much a sport as pinning for trout.

amen....

Fisherman

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A fisherman or fisher is someone who captures fish and other animals from a body of water, or gathers shellfish.[1] Worldwide, there are about 38 million commercial and subsistence fishermen and fish farmers.[2] The term can also be applied to recreational fishermen and may be used to describe both men and women. Fishing has existed as a means of obtaining food since the Mesolithic period.[3]

This thread is fun. :)

Bass are boring fish to catch. Hate using precision casting tackle. Hate how those ugly bass explode to the surface to take a plug. I hate catching fish that struggle and thrash on the surface. What a complete waste of time.

I've only evrer caught two bucket mouths(largies). And they were both over 4lbs, they definatly didnt fight nearly as hard as some of the smaller smallies. I dont think only catching 2 in my life is enough to make that call. But so far id have to say yes they do fight hard IMO. Yes thank goodness for this fourm it has kept me sane.

I'm with ya on that! Smallies are the BOMB!

What body of water are you fishing that you only catch smallies?

4+ lbs for a largie is something to be proud of! I catch mainly bucket mouths and they fight good, put a bend in the top of my rod. When I hook a smallie oh boy! They just want to stay deep, and my rod bends all the way! LOVE SMALLIES!

This is sad. Fishing is about the challenge of targeting any type of fish and enjoying the experience. Be thankful we have these experiences available to us all.
