I say be patient as new rules get ironed out. I don't think you broke any forum rules. New rules/new mods, they're probably still trying to figure it all out.

Steelhead and Salmon forum rules

Naming Rivers: The naming of any specific river or tributary is not permitted in the publicly viewable general discussion forum. Instead, please refer to the river by the general area it is located, ie “East Trib”, “West Trib”, “GB (Georgian Bay) Trib”, etc. For example, you are not allowed to say "I had a great day fishing yesterday on Wilmot Creek", instead, we encourage members to say "I had a great day fishing yesterday on an East Trib". The former statement should be relegated to the reports sections (coming soon), away from public view.

Yes there will be new rules coming soon, a report section as well.
For now, any reports with names or pictures that give away locations will be edited by mods.
As for asking for advice, all the topics will be locked so they don't turn into long discussions about locations, any advice or tips can be pm'ed to user.

Thank you

Just to get clarification on this.. If I were to ask for fishing techniques or tips the topic would be locked?

it only applies to locations and river names, anything else is good to go.
if you ask where the fish are, or where to fish in a particular river or area it will be locked, so users who want to give you any advice will have to pm you and it won't be visible in public forum. this way you will not find 20 people when you go there

I totally agree with this policy. When I first joined this forum and didn't know all the rules I named a specific spot trying to help a fellow member while not thinking of all the "guests" and "anonymous viewers." I believe it was you efka who edited my post. The same spot turned up in some pics someone posted recently and was quickly edited. Even though that spot is within easy driving distance of more than a million people I rarely if ever see anyone on that stretch of water. I have shared it with a few members using PM and I am happy to say that they have in return shared some good spots with me :D
