from what i understand the point of running the bead up the line is to avoid deep hooksets. like nado said it eats the bead and the hook plants in the outside, easy to remove. Wheres AKnook when you need him?

That 'story' about the ticket is comical.

Correct. I normally run it an inch or inch and a half above the hook and the fish is normally hooked inside the mouth.

The poaching, etc. shouldn't mix in that discussion though, two different issues. But I understand his frustration 100% and otherwise support his advice.

This makes no sense to me. This would classify stinger hooks as illegal as well, wouldn't it? Seems like this was an inexperienced CO fresh on the job or there was some part of the story that is missing.

it is possible that part of the story is missing but if you read John's (CRAA) post on the other board it is confirmation that CO's are fining people, as for stinger hooks, if using a bead is illegal then ya a stinger would be illegal also......just because things are sold it doesn't mean that they are legal to use....think of all the drug paraphernalia that's sold in the variety stores

Uh oh, looks like my spinner bait is gonna be lonely.

Allegedly. John acknowledged it was second hand info. I'd love to see the ticket. Something don't smell right here.

Saw a post on the "other site" bead use is not illegal. A member there emailed the MNR to clarifty and received a response saying that using only beads with a bare hook is not illegal. This angler must have been snagging or doing something else illegal.
