i use 15lbs main and 12 leader. i dont like to waste time bring fish in, the quicker i get my pic the faster the fish goes free.
plus i like the looks i get on the geen when i land fish just by walking backwards...
I don't know about you guys, but horsing a fish in kind of defeats the purpose of it all to me. You should be able to control a 3 pound fish the same as a 12 pound fish even with lighter lead line. Yeah it may take Longer to land bigger fish, but At least they wont be thrashing around While youre trying To get your hook out or snap your "quick" pucture. Your rod that is designed for said purpose is like suspension on a vehicle. It's meant to absorb the initial shock of the hook set as well as any blistering runs those fish dish out.
Main line is obsolete to say the least, as long as your confident in it and it's easy to cast.
But on the other hand, I look for a main that is limp so it falls off your reel nice, that floats well, because I leave my line in the water 90% of the time, that has little or no memory, so it doesn't get coarse and create resistance while it runs through your guides, and a line that doesn't bed into itself everytime you get a fish or snag.
I like high vis as well, but mainly for aesthetic purposes. After my main i will run 8 or 10 feet of the same lbs test In floro. Let's be honest, centerpins look bad ass, i throw some color on there to make them more original, or to match my rod or float lol.

back in the day it was popular for guys to run the colors of their nationality or decent, italy for example would be green backer then clear mono then red mono on the spool
