Been searching through the forum for reviews and such on rods. Thought for awhile i was going the used route, well ended up going state side today and buying a new rod from orvis. I bought the Clear water 7wt 10' 4 peice outfit and upgraded the reel to the Access Mid Arbor. The guys at Orvis were extremely helpful, and i would forsure recommand the place for your fly fishing needs! So now, i need to "pop the cherry" if anyone would like to meet up and do some fishing?

I can't be more specific then that.

nice choice, you'll like the larger arbor, faster to pick up line when you have a fish running right at you. as for testing it out....probably going to be another month or so for some softer water, unless you're talking big rivers

I was thinking of making a run down to the lower niagara, if anybodys near by this weekend. Or i'd probly be up for a road trip with a hour or so if someone wants to hit up some other tribs that are open. I'm from the st.catharines area.

Nice.Did you get line and backing and the whole shebang? Was it worthwhile price wise stateside or is it cheaper to buy online? I'm looking too and that was one of the brands I was interested in.

Assuming the west trib you speak of is the same one I am thinking of. It was clear and producing Chrome last week end. My friend got 4. Unfortunately I had to work.
I very much doubt it is clear now. I doubt any tribs are "clear" now after the last day or two.

Alfie.

Yeah I figured it would be blown the next few days, hoping its cleared up a bit by Saturday. Gonna try to hit a less populated area Friday morning to do some practice casts.

Yup they spooled the reel as well for me. After i bought a few different leaders and a roll of tippet material, i was like 480 for rod, upgraded reel lines, tippet. The whole shebang !

On a separate note, i was playing with it early today in the park by my house. I can not believe the difference in it, compared to my white river 5wt rod from bass pro. My cast distance has easily doubled and alot more control. Very impressed with the rod.
