Here's a quick 2 minute tie

and hey

it's my first attempt at Hell so it ain't great, but thought to give it a quick shot to what we're up against


but I'm sure you guys can wrestle something from your fluff + feathers n'est pas?

One of the biots broke while I tied it....SOB. :oops: But the thorax is the first tube I've tied and is weighted just as the abdomen is. Total length is about 2 1/2 inches. So part tube part articulated fly. Where's the bass...dam it.....lol.

And oh yeah...those biots can be brittle. the problem is when you make an adjustment and re-tie your biot in place it is already weakened and subject to breaking off more readily..."SOB" indeed

To add to the Hellgrammite Hype, I'd thought I would tie up my first.... I tied it using the best of my abilities using my limited materials... at 11:45 at night... :D I know I messed up the tail, but that's cause it was first time using that kind of backing. Which by the way is a cut up surgical glove coloured in.

I don't recall a photo report/contribution from you Noob...but GREAT to have one. Furthermore that is a nice looking Hell...now you can start tinkering...can't wait to see what you come up with next...

After watching your posts i decided to tie my own version of hellgrammite my picture reference is from

it took me an hour last night to figure out the pattern after 3 attempts i think i got closed to it i like to tie realistic as i can
For materials if you have any question i would be happy to answer you.

Chase you are right about that glad there are so many people posting in here I love seeing the flys people are tying I will try to get some of the tube flies I have been tying although there pretty bad and nima that's a great looking fly
