Varadero,cuba

Hey guys im going to cuba next friday for march break and i will be going on a deep sea charter. I was wondering if anyone has done a charter in varadero before. I have heard the most common fish are barracudas, wahoo and snapper. Hopefully i will catch somthing bigger then 40lbs im hoping to break my pb fish a 52" musky. Any info you have that can kill the curiosity thats digging a hole through me would be a good help.

Make sure you check those fishing charters out,I got ripped of by Alberto fishing Charters in puerto plata they charged me $180 u.s for what suppose to be half day deep sea fishing i was shown pictures of a professional boat & proper fishing equipment the morning of the trip the guy showed up for the money took back the receipt he give me & left me waiting to only realize it was & old beat up banana boat with a 15hp Johnson that couldn't even come ashore because of the waves i had to swim out to the boat the guy on the boat couldn't be more than 17 years old then it finally hit me that i was in for a cast away, we went on with the fishing trip dragging a floating lure on a hand reel which caught 1 bonito after couple of hours i told the kid drop me back to the resort.

Jheeze that sucks big time. Im going with the one through the tour company im going with so its legit. It was only like 80 bucks for the half day but seeing how im paying 2 grand to go on the trip i dont think im saving any money

I here the Largemouth Bass fishing is fantastic in Cuba...Have fun!

Frank, thats disappointing but an adventure for sure. OP, my suggestion is for you to bring a rod along with you, pack it in a PVC pipe and most of the time you can ship it with the fragile items for free. My parents were out in Cuba and my father caught all sorts of little colorful fish and had a couple beastly fgures make off with his lure. There was a jetty near them and that's where he fished.

Don't get too sloppy the night before, a weak stomach and big waves can result in a mad down. Enjoy yourself while we freeze up here :lol:

I'm going with a tour company and we have a full schedule so I wouldn't have much time to fish if I brought a rod. Hopefully i'm not to hungover the morning of the charter but who know when you go to cuba with everyone from your high school shitts getting crazy Thanks for all the best wishes guys I will write a report of what I catch when i get back. I'm bringing my under water camera when we go snorkeling so I should have some cool pics to post.

Dozer i dont think i can downgrade back to shore fishing since i have been deep sea fishing but thanks for the advice.

Been deep sea fishing twice, Aruba and South Carolina. Checking out the dock and the boats is a good idea as is word of mouth if at all possible. In Aruba the weather was bad, rough seas with big swells there were 4 of us and everyone was throwing up but myself. I was on deck drinking beer catching the first fish of the day, and all i could hear was puking behind me below deck. I swear the captain kept turning the boat so we faced into the diesel fumes to make it worse. I wanted to stay out but considering how everyone else felt that would have been selfish so we cut it short. South Carolina was a beautiful sunny day and we caught a bunch of mackerel.
