Remove the treble hook and replace it with a single open eye siwash hook. You close the eye with pliers.

+1. treble will hook itself to a biting fish but they're smaller. bigger single siwash once the hook sets in...landing the big one at a higher rate.

Although I like both I really like the siwash for certain uses. The single hook lets me bulk up the spinner with a plastic trailer, with a big enough hook and spinner combo I also like to rig em texas/skinned around fallen tress etc. Awesome for larger bass and all kinds of pike.
I heard that walleye guys in the prairies are doing this too (without the texas rig I assume lol).
