from the top of the steelhead/salmon forum that you obviously skipped
Naming Rivers: The naming of any specific river or tributary is not permitted in the publicly viewable general discussion forum. Instead, please refer to the river by the general area it is located, ie “East Trib”, “West Trib”, “GB (Georgian Bay) Trib”, etc. For example, you are not allowed to say "I had a great day fishing yesterday on Wilmot Creek", instead, we encourage members to say "I had a great day fishing yesterday on an East Trib". The former statement should be relegated to the reports sections (coming soon), away from public view.

Every river is a hot spot at a specific time, just being able to time it correctly is the trick. I see you are new, welcome to the forums. My suggestion to you is to make friends and invite people out to go fishing together or tag along with others. From time to time people post that they are looking for company, jump on it!
There are many rivers out there, look 'em up on a map and start exploring, look through previous posts here on our forums, lots of hidden goodies.

what dozer said, all comes down to bait, day, time and presentation, get em all lined up, and you'll have a great day. a spot can be hot one day, and then cold the next. especially with trout, slight change in water temp, or air pressure can turn em off or turn em on in a heartbeat

I know plenty of "hotspots" And wouldn't have an issue sharing them as I've done on many other forums I'm a part of. I was merely asking a question to see if anyone has had some good luck over the last few days on the rivers and to see if anyone wanted to share . I didn't mean to offend the so called secret society of fishing as its clear this forum doesn't seem to be one that is out to share spots and provide helpful forums. Funny how you can use the Canadian sports fishing ask Italo site and Italo will not only help you he will get you to the spot. Such ashame a site like this thinks fishing is a secret . If we all were like that no one would learn anything about this sport or any. Why help people or guide them Instead let's just say I had a great day fishing in northern Canada today give me a break

I'm going to "share" with all of you secret society buffs a story. 0ver 20 years ago when I started river fishing for salmon and stealhead u sucked at it. I was fishing at a river oh hang on I can't say where lets say somewhere in Canada and an angler who I can't name cause that too may be N issue walked over when I was having trouble and said here pal let me help you out. He re rigged my line showed me how , gave me some of his equipment and bait and said now try it like this and bingo fish on. The rest was a lifelong lesson on how to which I have shown to a of people and have shared my spots. You see the moral here folks if you think a public forum such as this is not the place to share then make sure it's not public. I'm a member like all of you so then make it members only and post at will cause otherwise we can't teach and help each other. I'm greatly disappointed by this site for how they view this sport which is a sport to be shared and celebrated for the love of fishing and not one that is a secret society of little children that sit around and say I got a secret and I'm not telling. To that folks I say a big give me a serious break

Its not a lot of fun when you arrive at a river, but can`t fish because every pool is taken.

RobK, this forums has formed many great relationships from people hooking up. We organize get togethers ( some one which include clinics to teach noobies, prizes to be won, etc. ), river clean ups, we are very community like here. What you have to keep in mind is that there are people who visit this site, just looking for information... with your 20 years of steelheading experience, you have def. seen the increase in people, garbage and bad practice on the rivers... we are merely trying to slow the process down. We really are a friendly bunch, stick around and you will see

its just the sharing of spots people get sensitive about rivers, this arguement has been had and its done, people here are more than willing to share advice on bait and how to rig lines for different situations, even the recipes for their favourite flies.
with the advent of social media, word spreads very very quickly, saying this pool on this river was stacked today, will likely add an increased volume of anglers at that pool the next day, its the unfortunate way that todays society works, instead of experimentation and learning, people want the answer before they do the work

he is new on the forum, he asked a simple question and everyone jumps on him for it. i agree that a response with a PM is appropriate but how is he going to let everyone know what he is looking for........if you dont want to give him any info then dont but theres no need to jump down his throat for asking a question, we should be saving that for the person that responds in this thread because they should know better.
