My first one of this season and on my new pin and setup. Have only been using this setup for a week! :)

Noticed she was spawning with a male close to shore...and after over 20 tosses...the float finally went down!

As I pulled her out, she spilled some roe...so I asked the people next to me for a quick picture and put her back as soon as possible. It seemed like she was all spawned out and after about 5 minutes of me trying to revive her....she didnt make it :(. There was VERY little roe left in her...so im guessing she at least got the chance to lay 90% of her eggs :)

Congrats on the fish but yeah when they are on their redds most likely they are exhausted. Depends how long you fought it too. Right now just fish in the deeper pools. Thats where the drop backs are. They are hungry and fight like crazy.

Congrulations way to go good to see that you finally hit one. Too bad the first also came with a mortality.

Congrats, it may sound like a dick thing anyways, if there was little roe left in her, she probally wasnt gonna make it much further anyways!

That doesn't look like a 7" trout to me. Better put it back. Lol. just yanking your chain brother. Good job on the pin. There's more in store for you. That background is a dead giveaway btw.

Thanks guys!

And rich ace, I know its a dead giveaway....but with the amount of people fishing that spot and river EVERYDAY I dont think im giving away too much of a secret :P

As I was wading trough the river (which was quite low) there was a lot of trout that I spooked...which made me feel like a jackass for ruining it for myself and others...but also I felt good knowing there are still tons of fish left...especially for opener. (unless those were drop backs). In any case, the one I caught wasnt a drop back, so thats good news.

OH and at the end of the night, I decided to have some sucker fun and practice more casting and pinning....so I put a spinner on and the hits were incredible! At first I never knew fishing with a spinner on a pin was all that possible....but MAN I got a sucker hit nearly every cast on my glow in the dark cleo.

congrats on your fish--GT I am going out on opener for sure-just not for steel. I am doing what books are written on--sauntering through tiny mountain streams, birds, fresh air...brookies --I will be tom rosenbauer this weekend

So I took the roe that spilled out on to the rocks home, and decided might as well use it to make some bags for opener. It wasnt much...but enough to make 12 or so bags.

1.  That roe looks pretty good

2.  Its his first steelhead on his new pin and setup.  It can be assumed the waders and vest were recently purchased as well... brand new stuff doesn't come bloodied and goo'ed on.

3.  Does he honestly have to has his hair jelled when he's fishing?  Maybe he was on a date with his sugar mama girlfriend that bought him all the gear?  Come on buddy, you can't be serious...

f89, if you want better fighting fish, target pools.  The ones that are spawning are weak and best left alone to do their job ( don't jump me guys, just trying to offer some advice ).  A great fish dude   The smile on your face says it all :)

hahaha thanks guys. I dont know WHY youd want to have your gear covered in blood and goop...even if its not new :S

Ive had the vest for over a year, I just take care of my stuff, it doesnt have a single mark on it and i've been out in it well over 100 times. The waders and boots are new, which ironically this fish squirted blood and roe on, but i washed that off right away.....like any normal person lol

lol well said, good response from Dozer too. I always have my hair did when I go fishing saturday, left over style from Friday night partying lol. Should I take the time to mess it up before I go fishing Saturday so I can look the part? Since when do fishermen judge based on hair style???
